In early/mid June, I had contacted another appliance company, whose sole proprietor is currently unavailable, but he has a partnership with EasyFix, so my call went to them. EasyFix assigned me a technician, Tim, who arrived a few days later. Frankly, he is youngish, but was professional, earnest, hardworking, friendly and a pleasure with whom to work.
His 1st visit was diagnosing problems with 3 appliances. Happy to report that Tim put shoe covers over his footwear. Tim proceeded to spend at least 75 to 90mins, pulling the appliances out and trying to determine the problems and solutions. Now, my Kenmore all-fridge lights weren’t working and required replacement of door rocker switch. My KitchenAid wall oven was working, but making rattling sounds in convection mode. Tim tightened some screws at the back of the oven, but the sounds persisted. He determined noise due to worn out convection motor and a potential temperature issue miscommunication between main board and temperature sensor, with expensive parts and labour-intensive repair. My GE smooth glass cooktop had a faulty burner–the largest and most used one only operated at the highest setting. Tim determined that the mother board required replacing.
Due to cost, I decided not to proceed with the wall oven issue, since my oven still worked. Tim ordered the 2 parts for the other appliances and as soon as they arrived, he contacted me and set up a 2nd appointment for the actual repairs.
As he was installing the fridge door switch, he also cleaned its condenser coils, which I hadn’t done in several years. For the glass cooktop, he said he’d studied my model and it was unusual in that the mother board operated 3 burners, and a daughter relay board (DRB), the problematic burner. He said he believed the DRB might very well solve my problem and it was $200 cheaper than the mother board. So he advised me to order the DRB and try installing that first. If it did the job, then he could return the unopened mother board. If it didn’t work, then no choice but to also install the mother board. So we proceeded with that route and I awaited his call.
After one week as I was just about to phone Tim, he phoned me. He was diligent and had followed up with the Ontario company about the delinquent part; despite inventory records showing they had 1 in stock, they couldn’t find it. Meanwhile, Tim located the part in the U.S., and said it cost only about $20 more with currency exchange. He ordered it and it arrived swiftly.
Tim returned a 3rd time, apologetic about the wait time for the part. He was methodical, careful and relatively fast with removing the faulty DRB and installing the new one, which works just like new!
Thank you, Tim, for all your work, patience, fabulous follow-up (through texting and phone calls) and for trying to save me money. Despite the sizable bill, we are thrilled that you’ve repaired 2 well-used appliances, all the while maintaining your smile and mine! I am very pleased with Tim and EasyFix.
